Bec Manser is a British children's and young-adult author based in Daventry, who describes herself as half sparkle, half spooky, and who writes fantasy and horror with a warmly inclusive, queer-normative heart. Her debut, Wildheart, published by Puffin in 2026, is a magical woodland adventure in which timid Nettle joins the Wildheart Rangers and braves the ghostly Hollow Spirits of the Dryda Forest to save her fearless older sister, only to wonder whether her sister needs saving at all. A proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Manser weaves diverse representation naturally into her world-building rather than making it the subject. Fast-moving, atmospheric and just the right amount of spooky, her writing suits readers of eight and up who like their adventures brave and their forests a little haunted.
