Writer · United Kingdom

Author of Wildlands, the Wainwright Prize-winning eco-adventure — tense, believable survival stories rooted in a hopeful vision of the rewilded world.

Brogen Murphy is a British children's author who studied Zoology at the University of Cambridge and spent fifteen years promoting clean technologies before turning to fiction. That scientist's eye runs through her gripping debut, Wildlands, an eco-adventure set twenty-five years in the future in a rewilded Britain roamed by wolves, lynx and bison, where two stranded sisters must survive long enough to be found. The novel won the Wainwright Children's Prize for Fiction in 2025. Murphy writes tense, believable survival stories threaded with real questions about our relationship with nature, the meaning of home and the fierce bond between siblings. She lives by the sea in Suffolk, and is a strong choice for readers who like their adventure hopeful and rooted in the wild.
