Cécile Dormeau is a French illustrator, based in Germany, who came to books from a background in graphic design and advertising. She is best known for warm, humorous illustration about everyday life, self-acceptance and body image, work drawn in a bright, rounded, character-led style. In children's fiction her illustrations bring that same affectionate humour to Nat Luurtsema's The Overthinkers' Club: Happy List, a diary-format story about a twelve-year-old champion worrier learning to manage her anxiety. Dormeau's expressive, friendly line is a natural fit for funny, warm-hearted books about growing up, friendship and the everyday wobbles of the pre-teen years.
