Gracey Zhang: a Caldecott Honor-winning illustrator whose loose, luminous line brings warmth and movement to tender stories of family and home.

Gracey Zhang is an award-winning illustrator and author, born and raised in Vancouver and now based in New York. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she made her name with her debut picture book Lala's Words, which won the Ezra Jack Keats Illustrator Award. She went on to earn a 2025 Caldecott Honor for Noodles on a Bicycle, Kyo Maclear's vivid history of Tokyo's noodle-delivery cyclists. In the corpus she illustrates Anything, Rebecca Stead's tender debut picture book about a father, a daughter and a new home. Zhang's loose, expressive line and glowing washes give her work a warmth and movement all its own — luminous, unfussy and full of feeling, a lovely fit for quiet, heartfelt stories about family and belonging.
