Jeremy Sherr: author of The Noble Adventures of Beryl and Carol, a warm, old-fashioned treasure-hunt adventure about two brave girls turning fear into heroism.
Jeremy Sherr is an author whose children's fiction has an old-fashioned, outdoor-adventure heart. Born in South Africa in 1955, he has written widely in other fields before turning to storytelling for young readers. His independently published, award-winning novel The Noble Adventures of Beryl and Carol, illustrated by Talya Baldwin, follows two twelve-year-old best friends in a small English town in 1997 who flee their bullies into a Forbidden Forest and set out to solve the mystery of a teenager who vanished there years before. Building a secret clubhouse and chasing clues on long bike rides, the girls transform from bullied children into genuine heroines. With the flavour of a classic children's mystery, real friendship, real jeopardy and a proper puzzle to solve, it is a warm, hopeful pick for readers of nine to twelve who love plucky protagonists and treasure hunts.
