Judd Winick is an American comic-book writer and artist born in 1970, who came up through the alt-comic scene (Pedro and Me, The Real World: San Francisco) and superhero comics (Green Lantern, Batman, Catwoman) before moving into children's graphic novels with Hilo. The Hilo series, beginning with The Boy Who Crashed to Earth (2015), is a major bright, action-packed middle-grade graphic-novel property about a boy from another dimension and his Earth friends, blending superhero-scale adventure with real emotional warmth.
