Linda Bailey is a Canadian children's author, born in Winnipeg in 1948 and now living in Vancouver, whose warm, funny, propulsive stories span picture books, chapter books and non-fiction across a career of three decades and nearly forty titles. She is loved for the mischievous Stanley the dog picture books, the Stevie Diamond mysteries and the acclaimed Mary Who Wrote Frankenstein. In 2021 she received the Writers' Trust of Canada's Vicky Metcalf Award for an exceptional body of work in children's literature. In the corpus she brings Lena the Chicken (But Really a Dinosaur!), a rousing, comic picture book about a hen who knows in her bones she is a dinosaur and summons her inner ferociousness to save the coop.
