Peter H. Reynolds.

Writer & illustrator · United States · b. 1961

Peter H. Reynolds: author-illustrator of The Dot and Ish, gentle, much-loved picture books about creative courage that are classroom staples the world over.

Peter H. Reynolds is a Canadian-born, US-based author-illustrator whose gentle picture books about creative courage have become fixtures in classrooms worldwide. Born in 1961 and now working out of Massachusetts, where he founded the media company FableVision, he is best known for his loose, expressive ink-and-watercolour style and his quiet, encouraging storytelling. His celebrated trio — The Dot, Ish and Sky Color — follows children who fear they cannot draw, or paint, or measure up, and shows them that a mark, an 'ish' drawing or an unexpected sky can be enough. The Dot inspired International Dot Day, now marked in classrooms across nearly two hundred countries. Reynolds writes reassuring, deeply teacherly books for the young perfectionist and the reluctant creator alike, ideal for reading aloud and returning to often.
