Promina Shrestha: Kathmandu-based illustrator and comics artist whose warm, vibrant artwork brings the Nepal-set graphic reader Yelp! Yeti! to life.

Promina Shrestha is a Kathmandu-based illustrator and comics artist, and a co-founder of Virangana Comics, whose work is steeped in the colours and textures of Nepal. She illustrated Yelp! Yeti! Chaos in Kathmandu, a bright, high-energy graphic reader written by Sneha Pradhan, in which a runaway Yeti trashes a family home and young Dev gets the blame. Shrestha's warm, expressive artwork blends whimsy with everyday Nepali detail, from busy street scenes to family kitchens, and her adorable monster and cat characters carry the book's non-stop comic chaos. Weaving Nepali words and settings into a form young comic fans already love, her illustrations open a joyful window onto a place many readers will not have met in a book before.
