Rob Hodgson.

Writer & illustrator · United Kingdom · b. 1988

A British author-illustrator with a bold, graphic, lo-fi style, behind laugh-out-loud picture books like The Woods and The Cave built for reading aloud.

Rob Hodgson is a British illustrator and author, born in a seaside town in the south of England in 1988, who studied illustration at Plymouth University and now works from Bristol. Drawn to lo-fi, hand-made processes, block printing, paper-cutting and bold graphic shapes, he makes funny, nature-inspired picture books built around memorable creatures and sharp comic timing. The Woods (2019) is a wickedly funny cat-and-mouse chase in which three determined foxes hunt for rabbits and never quite notice who is really leading whom, a read-aloud that rewards spotting exactly who is outfoxing whom on every page. Alongside The Cave and other titles, Hodgson's boldly designed, laugh-out-loud work is a reliable pick for young children who like their humour with a mischievous twist.
