S.K. Ali: co-author of the bestselling The Proudest Blue, tender, empowering picture books about hijab, family and standing tall in who you are.
S.K. Ali is a Canadian author, born in South India and raised in Canada, whose warm, affirming stories put Muslim children and families at their heart. With Olympic fencer and medallist Ibtihaj Muhammad, and illustrated in Hatem Aly's glowing ink and watercolour, she co-wrote the New York Times bestselling picture-book trilogy that begins with The Proudest Blue, in which little Faizah watches her big sister meet cruelty with grace on her first day of wearing hijab. The Kindest Red follows a picture day where small acts of kindness ripple out and return, and The Boldest White finds Faizah searching for the courage to step forward at a fencing tournament and an Eid celebration. Tender, empowering and rooted in faith and family, Ali's picture books are wonderful read-alouds about identity, sisterhood and standing tall in who you are.
