Tom Dearie is a British illustrator and cartoonist based in London. Raised in Jersey, where he taught himself to draw by copying his favourite cartoon characters, he went on to study fine art at Falmouth University and painting at the Royal College of Art, and has exhibited work in London and Berlin. His comics draw on a love of weird fiction, manga and animation, and his short comic 'F is for Fire' took the Grand Prix at Poland's international festival of comics and games. In children's books he brings that sensibility to Cosmo Park, Madeleine Finlay's graphic-novel tour of the cosmos, where his bold, bright, densely packed cartooning turns black holes and relativity into visual jokes and makes hard science click. A natural fit for curious 7-11s and reluctant readers who absorb facts without noticing.
