The shape of it
The shape of this universe.
Aster is the English edition of the French graphic novel series by Thom Pico (writer) and Karensac (illustrator), about a city girl whose family moves to the wild countryside and who promptly stumbles into accidental magic, trickster spirits and a talking dog. Two volumes have been translated (Aster and the Accidental Magic, 2020; Aster and the Mixed-Up Magic, 2021). The tone is sparky, irreverent, very funny in places, with a strong-willed protagonist and lots of visual humour. Pitched at the 8–12 graphic novel crowd; closer in feel to Hilda than to Amulet.
A sparky French graphic novel series about a city girl and country magic, irreverent, funny, beautifully designed.
