The shape of it

The shape of this universe.

Owly is Andy Runton's gentle graphic novel franchise about a kind little owl, his worm friend Wormy and a world of shy, cautious or misunderstood creatures learning to trust one another. The books are unusually soft for comics: sparse words, expressive pictures, simple emotional arcs and a deep commitment to kindness. They are excellent for early or reluctant readers because much of the story is carried by visual sequence rather than heavy text. The repeated shape is comforting: someone is lonely, frightened or unsure, and Owly helps friendship become possible.
