The shape of it
The shape of this universe.
Witches of Brooklyn is Sophie Escabasse's warm middle-grade graphic novel franchise about Effie, an orphaned girl who discovers that her elderly aunts are witches and that she has magical powers of her own. The series mixes cosy Brooklyn domesticity, celebrity witches, school worries, friendship, spells, magical mishaps and gentle growing-up drama. It is fantasy with a very reassuring emotional centre: there is grief and occasional magical danger, but the dominant feeling is found family, belonging and a child learning that she is more powerful and loved than she realised.
A warm graphic novel series about an orphaned girl, magical aunts, Brooklyn witchcraft, friendship, found family and growing confidence.
