The series
At a glance.
A cinematic Norwegian graphic novel series rooted in Nordic folklore. Sonja, on the eve of her coming-of-age, is taken by a mysterious boy Espen across the stars to a parallel Norway populated by trolls, pirates and magic. Falch's art is the draw: full-bleed landscape panels, fjord and aurora colour palettes, and creature designs steeped in Norse legend. Originally a webcomic, then a bestselling hardback series in Norway; English editions began in 2025 and are arriving roughly one volume per year.
Best for 9–13s who want a visually ambitious portal fantasy with proper Norse-folklore weight.

Sonja's journey through Nordlys
Sonja crosses into a mythic Norway via the northern lights and is pulled into its troll-and-pirate politics.
The English-language editions begin with Sonja's crossing and Espen's introduction (Book One) and continue with deeper immersion in Nordlys's factions and her own emerging role (Book Two). The Norwegian source-series is longer; further English volumes are forthcoming.
