Gus Gordon: an Australian author-illustrator of warm, gently funny stories — from the award-winning Herman and Rosie to graphic-novel adventures full of offbeat charm and small kindnesses.
Gus Gordon is an Australian author-illustrator, born in Sydney in 1971 and raised on a farm in northern New South Wales, who has made or illustrated more than eighty books for children. He is best known for Herman and Rosie, a musical love story set in New York that won a CBCA Honour Award and has been published in a dozen countries. His graphic-novel debut, Into the Bewilderness, sends best friends Luis and Pablo on a long, winding journey from their cosy woodland home to the big city — a cosy, clever, gorgeously drawn adventure of soft colours, jellybean-shaped friends and offbeat charm. Gordon's work is warm, gently funny and full of heart, prizing wonder and small kindnesses over big drama. A lovely storyteller for readers who like a wandering tale about friendship and the pull of somewhere new.
