Margaret Wise Brown (1910–1952): canonical American author of Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny (with Clement Hurd) — the bedtime-picture-book tradition's defining writing voice for ages 0–4.
Margaret Wise Brown (1910–1952) was an American author, the writer of Goodnight Moon (1947) and The Runaway Bunny (1942), two of the most-bedtime-read picture books in the English-speaking world over the last seventy-five years, both illustrated by Clement Hurd. Brown wrote over 100 picture books in her short life, including The Important Book, Big Red Barn and The Color Kittens. Her voice is gentle, rhythmically perfect for bedtime read-aloud, and built on close observation of how very young children actually experience their world. A canonical-classic American picture-book author for ages 0–4.
