What’s it about?
The story.
Panther is not like the other big cats. Leopard has beautiful spots, Tiger has striking stripes and Lion a magnificent mane, but Panther is small, shy and, the others tell him, plain and not at all special. Wounded, he runs away to find a place where he truly belongs, giving himself a mane like Lion's, stripes like Tiger's and spots like Leopard's in the hope of fitting in. But with the gentle help of Wind, Rain, Sun and Moon, Panther comes to see that he was never plain at all: he is as dark and exquisite as the night itself, and perfect just as he is. Written and illustrated by artist Poonam Mistry, this original fable of self-love, individuality and diversity is set against sumptuous, intricately patterned artwork influenced by Indian textiles and traditional design. A picture book to pore over and treasure.
“In the depths of the forest there once lived a little panther.”
