The series

At a glance.

Ekaterina Trukhan's My Favourite Seasons is a set of four gentle picture books, one for each season, made with Nosy Crow and the National Trust. Each title carries a small child through the sights and sounds of spring, summer, autumn or winter — planting seeds, packing a picnic, gathering conkers, feeding the birds in the snow — with warm, clean artwork and something to spot and name on every spread. The books are pitched at the very youngest readers: simple enough to share with a toddler, rich enough to send a child hunting back through the pages, and each ends on a cosy family moment. A free Stories Aloud audio recording comes with every book. There is no story to follow across the four; they are companions, best matched to the season outside the window.

    The four seasons

One gentle first-nature picture book for each of the four seasons.

A companion set with no story running between the books — each stands alone as a calm celebration of one season. Spring brings blossom, lambs and a waking hedgehog; summer brings long bright days, ducks and a picnic; autumn brings conkers, pumpkins and a hibernating hedgehog; winter brings snow, animal tracks and hot chocolate indoors. The shape is the same each time: warm, uncluttered pictures, a small child out with Mum and Dad, and something to spot and name on every page, closing on a cosy moment at home. Best matched to the season outside, or read as a gentle cycle through the natural year. Simple enough for a toddler and calm enough for bedtime, with a free audio recording included in each.
